Installation Information
Fitting TactTiles flooring to a garage or workshop is a straightforward DIY installation project. For a Garage, the sloping Edgetiles are normally required across the front entrance to the garage. Sloping Edgetiles are necessary if you are accessing the TactTiles from another level surface, to prevent a trip hazard and easy tyre entry.
The tiles are fitted together using the male / female connections. Lay the tiles all facing the same direction and simply click together using a rubber mallet. If you make a mistake, place a baton of wood under the 'peg' side and tap the tiles apart.
When laying tiles in your garage, start at the front door end and lay a row to the back to establish you ideal front entry point. Do the same from side to side, positioning the tiles to minimise waste and get the best aesthetic look. If you have a pattern or design, you will need to make sure that it is lining up correctly. Cut to fit at the side of the garage and against the back wall.
TactTiles are fitted together using a rubber mallet and tapping the pegs over the protruding lugs. Be careful to ensure that all the tiles are facing the same direction. If you make a mistake, slide a batton of wood under the 'top' tile and tap the adjacent tile gently with the mallet to unclick it.
TactTiles are easily cut using a Jigsaw, a Hacksaw or a Bandsaw. You can, with care, use a craft knife but a saw is recommended. The tiles can be marked for cutting using a felt tipped pen or a wax crayon.
It is helpful to have an assistant to bring you the tiles to save too much getting up and down. Enjoy the task, the job satisfaction is great!
Care and Cleaning
Care and Cleaning
TactTiles garage floors need little maintenance. Fine dust will be held below the floor and leaves etc. will stay on top. Leaves can be swept off using a broom, dust can be vacuumed up. If the floor becomes muddy, it can be mopped or scrubbed using normal floor cleaners or you could hose it down on a dry day. For stubborn marks, apply household bleach (following manufacturers' instructions) leave for a few minutes and then rinse well.
TactTiles can be lifted for maintenance of the subfloor or you may wish to undertake an annual deep clean. To take the tiles apare either use a Lifter Tool or Unzip Tool (available from Tact) or slide a baton of wood under the tiles and tap them apart using a rubber mallet. Sections can be taken outside for wet cleaning and the subfloor brushed. The tiles can easily be fitted together again.
